Radial DEA models without inputs or without outputs

چکیده
In this paper we consider radial DEA models without inputs (or without outputs), and radial DEA models with a single constant input (or with a single constant output). We demonstrate that (i) a CCR model without inputs (or without outputs) is meaningless; (ii) a CCR model with a single constant input (or with a single constant output) coincides with the corresponding BCC model; (iii) a BCC model with a single constant input (or a single constant output) collapses to a BCC model without inputs (or without outputs); and (iv) all BCC models, including those without inputs (or without outputs), can be condensed to models having one less variable (the radial eciency score) and one less constraint (the convexity constraint). Radial Efficiency Measures in Data
Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a non-parametric mathematical programming methodology used to not only evaluate the relative efficiencies of comparable decision making units (DMUs) with multiple inputs and outputs, but also provide efficiency targets for the DMUs. For a visualization of this method, see Figure 1. Since the incept of Charnes, Cooper and Rhodes (1978), DEA has gained increasin...
متن کاملFlexibility of Variations in Radial and Non-Radial Data Envelopment Analysis Models
One of the major problems in Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is to determine the projection of inefficient Decision Making Units (DMUs) into the efficient frontier. In conventional DEA models, inputs and outputs of inefficient DMUs alter arbitrarily for reaching to the efficient frontier. Nevertheless, sometimes the ability of DMUs is defined and restricted. Moreover, there are situations in th...
متن کاملRadial and non-radial DEA models undesirable outputs: an application to OECD countries
Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is an effective tool to measure the relative efficiency of decision-making units (DMUs) with multiple inputs and outputs. This study classifies the outputs into desirable and undesirable outputs, and then presents two DEA models, radial and non-radial models, to measure the environment efficiency for DMUs with undesirable outputs. Finally, two proposed DEA models...
متن کاملSome Conditions for Characterizing Minimum Face in Non-Radial DEA Models with Undesirable Outputs
The problem of utilizing undesirable (bad) outputs in DEA models often need replacing the assumption of free disposability of outputs by weak disposability of outputs. The Kuosmanen technology is the only correct representation of the fully convex technology exhibiting weak disposability of bad and good outputs. Also, there are some specific features of non-radial data envelopment analysis (DEA...
متن کاملThe directional hybrid measure of efficiency in data envelopment analysis
The efficiency measurement is a subject of great interest. The majority of studies on DEA models have been carried out using radial or non-radial approaches regarding the application of DEA for the efficiency measurement. This paper, based on the directional distance function, proposes a new generalized hybrid measure of efficiency under generalized returns to scale with the existence of both r...
